In 2021, Monnaie de Paris was inaugurating a new series based on literary styles and authors who have marked the history of literature in France and abroad.
On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his birth, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known as Molière, the greatest actor and playwright of French theatre.
Through his texts, Molière still fascinates us today by staging incredible characters. His plays are both comic and critical, using laughter as a weapon to criticise the mores and constraints of his time.
Protected by King Louis XIV, the latter invited him to perform at the Court, particularly at Versailles.
The pictogram created especially for the 400th anniversary of his birth is also present as well as Monnaie de Paris logo.
The 8 coins of the miniset are visible in a brilliant uncirculated finish.
