- French symbol magnified by a modern and graphic treatise
After the Sower, Hercules, the Rooster and Marianne, Monnaie de Paris is honoring a new collection from 2020 to 2022: Natures de France. This highlights the beauty of nature through three strong numismatic symbols: the oak, the laurel and the wheat.
The year 2022 values wheat.
On the obverse, the ears of wheat are in the center of the piece. Fruit of the earth par excellence, the many ears of corn in the background refer to the symbolism of wealth and abundance. Representing summer and therefore seeds, wheat is often taken up in the allegory of Summer carrying ears or germs of wheat during the harvest period. The upper part is surrounded by the motto of the French Republic: "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité". A pearl around the edge of the piece brings a touch of elegance to the latter and recalls the old graphics of French coins.
The reverse is common to the series. It presents the three symbols of nature included in this collection: oak, laurel and wheat. A Hexagon is inserted into the decor, representing France. The laurel branch on the left and the oak branch on the right adorn this hexagon. We find the ear of wheat in the center of the reverse. This is crowned by the face value and surrounded by the mention "French Republic". The engraving punches are visible on either side of the stem of the laurel and oak branches. A pearl around the edge of the piece brings a touch of elegance to the latter and recalls the old graphics of French coins.
