MONETA AUREA

The customary Vatican coin dedicated to the foundational sacrament of Christian life, Baptism, was entrusted to artist Cristina De Giorgi who depicts the face of Jesus resting on a stream of water and surmounted by the Holy Spirit. With Baptism, which forgives original sin and purifies, every newborn enters into the Church, the Christian community that welcomes, protects, helps and supports one another. Through Baptism, each person is reborn to new life, the life that Jesus has given us.
